As per discussion with EDS team, user can also able to import dependent SSN with special character as * , if the 9 digit SSN is not available.
The '*' should not be visible on its dependent page. The data base should save as null only, even if it is added as *.

Priya Dhamande, JUST FYI, this implementation is for Dependents only for employee we do not allow NULL SSN.

This patch was already deployed 5 days back but in today's LB patch it went again.
Any code changes we made on it?
Please let me know, as I need to test again otherwise.
