For a plan where the spouse life is 50% of employees coverage, if the employee has an age reduction, it is going to double reduce spouse life. Example - if employee elects $100K, spouse gets $50K. Then reduction occurs to $65K for employee and $32,500 for spouse and then if the spouse has an age reduction, the $32,500 is reduced again.
